My name is Maria do Socorro Pires. I studied languages and graduated in Italian and Portuguese at the University of Sao Paulo in 1993. Since then I have lived in several places in Europe, Oman and Malaysia. I started studying Art in Holland at Academie Minerva in Groningen and after one year there I moved to The Hague and studied at Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten for another 6 months.

Before the university period I did several courses in painting, drawing, ceramics, media and photography. Finally at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, Scotland I graduated in Fine Art – Sculpture with first class honours. My passion lies with the environmental issues such as global warming, deforestation, monocultures, biopiracy etc.
